100 KVAR APFC
Project type
Commission and Supervision
Date
12th of November 2019
Location
Dhaka
It outlines the complete process of designing, installing, commissioning, and supervising a 100 KVAR Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) panel to improve the power factor and energy efficiency of the client's electrical system.
The project began with a detailed analysis of the site and load requirements, identifying an existing low power factor that needed correction. A robust design was created, including the selection of key components such as capacitors, contactors, protection devices, and an automatic controller. The panel was designed to operate efficiently under site-specific conditions, with provisions for harmonic mitigation, proper ventilation, and safety standards.
The installation phase involved mounting the APFC panel, ensuring proper electrical connections, earthing, and labeling. The commissioning process included pre-commissioning tests, operational testing, and step-by-step verification of capacitor bank switching to achieve the desired power factor improvement. Observations made during supervision ensured compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
Challenges such as harmonic distortions and space constraints were effectively resolved. The power factor was successfully raised to the desired level, reducing energy losses and penalties for the client. Recommendations for regular maintenance and performance monitoring were provided to ensure the long-term reliability of the system.
In conclusion, the project achieved its objectives, enhancing the electrical system's efficiency and reliability while meeting the client's expectations. Detailed technical data, diagrams, and test results are appended for reference.
